Living With Congenital Heart Disease

Cardiovascular Screening & Genetic Testing

Our Cardiovascular Genetics Program provides genetic testing that can help determine who in your family is at risk for congenital heart defects. Our specialists meet with you and your family to understand the diagnosis and discuss treatment options.

Elite Care for Athletes

If you're an athlete, intense training and competition can pose serious risks to your heart. Genetic testing can help determine if you have a possible heart problem that can affect your life as an athlete.

Some heart abnormalities are harmless and may not affect your participation in sports. Some athletes can develop “athlete’s heart,” a condition where the heart muscle becomes larger due to intense training. It can be mistaken for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a serious genetic heart disease.
