Takayasu's arteritis is inflammation of the aorta and the arteries that branch off from it. It may cause narrowing of the aorta or aneurysms.
The exact cause of Takayasu's arteritis is unknown, but it may be an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system wrongly attacks healthy tissue.
